let's work together

Are you looking for something a little different to offer your school’s families in terms of school portraits?  Something more genuine that helps to bring out what’s beautiful unique about the child?   Something that parents will want to hang on their walls?   Fine Art School Portraits are a more contemporary approach to traditional school photography. I strive to capture each child's true personality vs. a cheesy grin or staged pose. I use a simple, black background vs. the bright, busy background choices typically offered. And I engage each child in a way that puts them at ease in front of the camera so they can just be themselves. The end result is a simple, timeless portrait that authentically captures each child’s essence.

Each child is unique. Their school photo should show that.

Welcome to fine art school photos you will absolutely LOVE!

Every student will receive an online gallery containing multiple poses in both color and black & white.

I  LOVE TO CREATE IMAGES PARENTS WANTS TO HANG ON THEIR WALLS!

For nearly 18 years, I have had the pleasure of working as a children's portrait photographer.  Starting out as a school photographer and now for the past year working for Lifetouch, I have come to realize that I would love to offering 'my version' of school pictures to parents & schools, with the hope of 'redefining' school photography.  Gone are the days of cheesy backdrops and forced smiles - I want to capture your children as you see them, with their magical little spirits shining through.

In my 18years as a professional photographer, I've photographed over 10,000 children (big & small) but when my camera is in my hand, I want you to know that YOUR child is the one that matters most.

My goal as a school photographer is to provide great photos that capture a bit of each child’s personality. I use my skills in planning & organization to make every part of the photo process simple for both schools and parents.

Meet Your Photographer:
Janina Botha

I am a mother of two beautiful boys and am amazed by how quickly they grow and change every day.
As I look back at their newborn photographs, I come to realize that these portraits are even more special to me that I can ever imagine.

As my boys gets older and I look at their portraits on my walls every day, I realize it's a moment that is gone, but a memory I can keep forever in a photograph. It's a memory that fits perfectly into a frame.
This is how I want each of my clients to feel when they look at their images.  I want you to hold on to all the memories of your children growing up.

As I sit here and reflect on the journey I have been on as a photographer, I am filled with a sense of deep gratitude and awe. The moments I have had the privilege of capturing for families - from maternity shoots to newborn sessions, milestones, and families and fine art school photographs - have been nothing short of magical.

There is something truly special about being able to freeze a moment in time, to capture the love, joy, and bond shared between family members. Each click of my camera feels like a small act of preservation, a way to immortalize the fleeting beauty of life's most precious moments.

MY WORK

Whether your child is 2 or 16 or somewhere in between, there are characteristics and traits that are unique to them for only a very short time before something else takes its place. How else will we remember these short days of childhood if not for photographs that captures the essence of their personalities now.

But … getting that big old smile is still pretty special isn’t it!

When a little one stands in front of my lens, I honour their spirit by making a personal connection with them.  I goof around and make small talk to help them feel at ease and act like themselves. By truly engaging with my little subjects and meeting them where they're at, I'm able to capture a variety of natural expressions.

And then lastly, one of the greatest benefits of taking a personal approach to school photography, is the chance to get siblings together for some rare moments having fun in the same frame. These photos are always fun to do and we can't wait to photograph your children TOGETHER and know that you'll love these photos as much as we love creating them.

One thing I’ve learned was that some of the best portraits of children are ones where they aren’t necessarily smiling. Somehow, when a child is simply still in front of the camera, their soul is bared in all its glorious innocence, and for me … it stops me in my tracks.

And sometimes, they don’t even need to look at the camera for their personality to show itself. That’s pretty special.
